Description
Comando 2” Exit Ferrite Driver with Horn (Blue) is a compression driver for mid-to-high frequencies, designed to integrate with PA-style or car audio horns. Its 2-inch throat (“exit”) and ferrite magnet structure make it ideal for sound systems that require powerful projection, wide coverage, and high efficiency—whether in speaker boxes, column speakers, or robust automotive installations. This driver is built for users who need reliable performance at high volumes without sacrificing clarity in mid-to-high frequencies.
KEY BENEFITS
- 2” compression driver with standard exit — easily pairs with compatible horns for strong sound projection.
- Heat-resistant ferrite magnet — ensures durability and stability in demanding environments or prolonged use.
- Reinforced diaphragm — provides clear, defined, and consistent sound even at high volumes.
- 8 Ω impedance — allows standard system connections and compatibility with common amplifiers.
- High power handling — capable of working with high output, suitable for PA systems or high-performance car audio.
- Horn-optimized design — maximizes acoustic efficiency, enhancing driver performance over distance and in large spaces.
- Flexible application — works for fixed installations (speakers, boxes, events) as well as demanding automotive audio systems.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
- Throat (exit) diameter: 2.00 in (~50 mm)
- Magnet type: Ferrite
- Impedance: 8 Ω
- Maximum power handling (peak): ~950 W
- Voice coil: Copper-clad, reinforced for high temperature/high power — diameter not publicly specified, compatible with standard 2″ compression driver horns
- Frequency response: up to ~20,000 Hz — ideal for clear mid-to-high frequencies
- Diaphragm: Reinforced for durability and high-power handling, delivering crisp, clear audio
- Mounting: Screwed system — ensures secure installation in boxes, horns, or acoustic enclosures
INSTALLATION & COMPATIBILITY
This driver is intended for use with a compatible 2-inch throat horn and should be mounted with proper mechanical sealing between the driver and horn to prevent acoustic loss. Suitable for both car audio systems and PA installations, column speakers, or speaker boxes. Requires an 8 Ω compatible amplifier that delivers adequate power to take full advantage of its high power handling. For fixed or amplified setups, a well-built enclosure is recommended for optimal performance.
FAQS
- What is a Comando driver used for in car audio?
Comando drivers are built for powerful mid and high-frequency projection. They’re ideal for show builds or pro-audio-style systems that need loud, clear vocals even at high volume levels. - How does a Comando driver compare to a standard tweeter?
Tweeters focus on high frequencies, while drivers cover a broader vocal range with more output. Comando drivers deliver fuller, more aggressive projection—great for high-volume environments. - How do I tune a Comando driver for best results?
Use a proper crossover at safe frequencies, adjust gain carefully, and EQ to reduce harsh peaks. Correct tuning protects the diaphragm and keeps vocals strong and controlled. - What should I consider before buying a Comando driver?
Check throat size, horn compatibility, RMS rating, and sensitivity. Matching the right horn and amplifier ensures efficient projection and balanced output across your mids and highs.
